Baby Girl 30 Months

Aaaah, my Babe. She's a complex, ever-changing wonder of a girl. In a lot of ways she's like a bad roomate. She gets into my stuff and tries on my clothes without asking. She rarely puts things away. There are always crumbs under her chair. She complains loudly when things don't go her way and is known to get a bit loopy and dance around until she gets dizzy. She is occasionally called 'quiet' and 'demure' but only by people who've just met her. Or you may get a poke with a tiny but firm little finger or get a sassy 'no' or 'mine' just for good measure.
Her opinions/temper tantrums continue to grow in magnitude. I'm sure she doesn't mean to be difficult, just why can't we see things her way. All the time.

The brilliant thing about being two, is that you still win people over wherever you go. With a charming smile and a contagious giggle face it's easy to forgive the occasional disruption *ahem* or difference of opinion. (ie. I prefer her pants on, she prefers them off)
One of the things I love most is that along with the anger and frustration and sadness at times, there is still plenty of happy joy sunshine girl too. She likes to be funny and entertain us. Smart and silly. Loud and boisterous.
And it's not a bad thing to acknowledge your strengths...'I coot'.
Yes indeed!

Dear November...

I know it's not your fault that you're dull and dreary. Not every month can be bags of candy or sparkly lights and jolly men bearing gifts, or green grass and water parks. It's not fair to expect that. I guess I can appreciate how it has been reasonable weather-wise. No snow. So far. Maybe it's the short days, but you've left me feeling ever-so-blah. blaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh...

see you next year,
Mrs. TwoMittens

And here is a photo of the kids on the hill we like to toboggan on. It was a really chilly day, but beautifully sunny and bright. So they rolled down the hill. And it really made our noses run. But this picture makes me laugh.

Baby Girl 29 Months

It turns out I didn't take many candid shots in October. Oh well. I guess I wasn't motivated by the snow.
Our Babe continues to be Ms. Sassy Pants with a strong independent will and an adventurous mind of her own. I have to admire it, even though I don't always enjoy it!

She can be so single minded in that way that only two year olds can be. Or maybe 3 yr olds too. And oh the sadness (temper) that can ensue when life is so unfair as to not go your way! Luckily she also has a sweet soft side. And if you're lucky enough you get to see that too.

I think it's interesting that this little one is not a big cuddler. The Bee is a huge cuddle bug but The Bug is certainly not.
She wanted a few more hugs when she was sick, I often tell her not to hug me, in order to get one!

All 3 kids recently had a bout with a stomach flu. They would throw up over and over for a few hours until their poor tummies were exhausted. And they all handled it completely differently. It speaks volumes about their personalities! I know it's kind of gross, but it's a good illustration.

The Bug got himself to the bathroom every single time. He barely asked for any help (I just had to follow him and keep him company). He didn't complain at all. Or say much of anything really.

The Bee wailed and moaned the whole time. And screamed. He wanted me to sit with him the whole time and hold the bucket.

The Babe didn't totally understand what her body was doing to her. She was mostly disgusted and then she got mad. She didn't want that crappy bucket and towards the end she was trying to stop herself from throwing up anymore. She'd had enough and she just wanted to go to bed.

And that is my girl. Even the flu isn't going to tell her what to do!

Halloween 2009

Well Halloween was a complete success, even though there was some throwing up and a lot of laying on the couch for the 24 hours prior (2 kids out of 3).
Decorations were made and put up, pumpkins were carved, costumes were worn (almost without any protest on the little witch), playschool parties were attended, fun was had with Grandma and Grandpa, candy was collected, cuteness was rampant. Whew! Fun!

AND, the kids had their fill of treats last night, picked a handful of their favorites to eat later and the rest was left to the Candy Man who cleaned up the leftover candy in exchange for some play fun. And new toothbrushes. I think we have a new tradition. Much better than the whining and constant requests for more candy, candy, candy.

And today The Bee announced that production of Christmas decorations will start immediately...

Awesome.
